I am a MD State trained crisis incidence Mental health volunteer awaiting to hear if and when they need mental health people. Sorry to say but your experience with the Red Cross is not unusual. I have found it better for my nervous system to work through the Salvation Army and/or various and sundry church groups. They seem to have their act(s) together much more than RC. This was reiterated once again in Gail Sheehey's book "Middleton" which covers post-911.
